Southern North Sea and Eastern English Channel beam trawl survey data collected between July and August 2004. The survey recorded station, catch, length, and biological data for 202 species across 128 stations, alongside benthic, litter, water temperature, and salinity data. It was undertaken by Cefas on the vessel Corystes as part of an ICES-funded research program supporting EU data regulations.
Use Cases
- Modeling species distribution and abundance based on catch data from 128 stations.
- Analyzing the relationship between water temperature/salinity and species presence.
- Studying benthic community composition and litter data collected during the survey.
- Assessing compliance with EU fisheries data regulations using the recorded catch and biological data.
Strengths
- Survey operations were undertaken on 128 stations, providing spatial coverage.
- 202 different species were caught, indicating broad taxonomic coverage.
- Data includes multiple modalities: catch, biological, benthic, litter, and environmental measurements.
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
