Description
109 stations were sampled during a survey conducted from 25 July 2006 to 15 August 2006. The survey, undertaken by Cefas as part of an ICES-funded research program, recorded catch, length, and biological data for 206 different species in the Southern North Sea and Eastern English Channel. It also aimed to collect benthic, litter, water temperature, salinity, and acoustic data using a 4m beam trawl.
Use Cases
Analyze species composition and abundance based on the catch data for 206 species.
Model fish population dynamics based on the length and biological data for selected species.
Study benthic community health and environmental impact based on the collected benthic and litter data.
Assess environmental conditions based on the water temperature and salinity data mentioned in the description.
Strengths
Survey operations were undertaken on 109 stations, providing a structured spatial sampling framework.
206 different species were caught, indicating broad taxonomic coverage.
The description specifies a clear time range (25/07/2006 to 15/08/2006) and geographic scope (Southern North Sea and Eastern English Channel).
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale modeling.
Data may reflect temporal bias inherent to a single survey conducted in summer 2006.
