One Tree Reef, in the southern Great Barrier Reef, is roughly triangular. In March/April 1979, water circulation and sediment flux were monitored over the reef margins by the Australian Ocean Data Network. Sediment flux for different reef zones reflects the water flows, with spring tide flushing causing a net loss from the lagoon over the leeward margin.
