FGF23 and Diabetic Kidney Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Nine observational studies involving 3,799 participants were synthesized to investigate the association between fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) and diabetic kidney disease (DKD). The meta-analysis, conducted by Xingjia Wang and published on figshare in 2026, found serum FGF23 levels were significantly elevated in DKD patients compared to non-DKD controls. The study followed PRISMA guidelines and its protocol was registered with PROSPERO (CRD420251180089).
