A study by Chinwe E. Okoli assessed antimicrobial resistance in presumptive Escherichia coli from cattle carcasses and meat-contact surfaces at two slaughterhouses in Abuja, Nigeria. The work reports an overall prevalence of 19.4% from 540 swab samples, with all isolates exhibiting multidrug resistance and universal resistance to ampicillin. Molecular analysis detected antibiotic resistance genes including tetA, blaCTX-M, blaTEM, and blaVIM.
