Description
A single-center prospective cohort study of 100 adult patients with end-stage kidney disease undergoing maintenance hemodialysis. Plasma Proenkephalin A 119–159 (PENK) levels were measured before and after a dialysis session, with associations analyzed against estimated glomerular filtration rate and other markers. The dataset, authored by Luobei Zhang, was last updated on April 14, 2026.
Use Cases
Analyze the correlation between plasma PENK levels and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in ESKD patients.
Evaluate the clearance of the PENK biomarker during a hemodialysis session compared to BUN and SCr.
Investigate associations between PENK and other clinical markers like NT-proBNP or LVEF in a cohort with residual urine output.
Strengths
Includes data from 100 enrolled patients, providing a defined cohort size.
Contains paired measurements of PENK levels before and after a hemodialysis session.
Associations are analyzed against multiple clinical markers (e.g., eGFR, BUN, SCr, NT-proBNP, LVEF).
Limitations
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Data is from a single-center study, which may limit generalizability.
