Description
98 non-repeating clinical isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii were collected between 2013 and 2021 from a tertiary hospital in Guangzhou, China. Whole-genome sequencing identified ST2 as the dominant, high-risk multidrug-resistant clone, accounting for 66.3% of isolates and exhibiting a 95.38% carbapenem resistance rate. The dataset, authored by Xuxia Cui and last updated in March 2026, includes results for multi-locus sequence typing, resistance and virulence gene analysis, plasmid screening, and pan-genomic analysis.
Use Cases
Analyze the genomic basis of multidrug resistance based on the identified resistance determinants like blaOXA-23 and tet(B).
Study the molecular epidemiology and persistence of high-risk clones based on the temporal aggregation and clustering of ST2 isolates.
Investigate virulence factors associated with hospital adaptation based on the conserved repertoire of genes for iron acquisition and siderophore systems.
Perform comparative genomic analysis based on the pan-genome results showing a 76.4% accessory genome.
Strengths
Includes 98 non-repeating clinical isolates collected over an 8-year period (2013-2021).
Provides detailed genomic analysis results for sequence typing, resistance genes, virulence factors, and plasmids.
Identifies a dominant, high-risk clone (ST2) with specific resistance and virulence profiles.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count for the underlying data tables is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data is limited to a single hospital in Guangzhou, which may affect generalizability.
