Description
674 porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) ORF5 gene sequences collected from 25 provinces in China between 2019 and 2024. The dataset, authored by Jinyong Zhang and shared on figshare, was used to analyze spatiotemporal distribution, molecular evolution, and amino acid mutations. The data was last updated on April 10, 2026.
Use Cases
Phylogenetic analysis based on ORF5 sequences to track viral lineage prevalence over time
Mapping spatiotemporal distribution of PRRSV strains based on province-level collection data
Identifying amino acid mutations in signal peptides and epitopes based on sequence analysis
Monitoring trends in nucleotide and amino acid identity divergence based on yearly comparisons
Strengths
Contains 674 sequences providing a multi-year snapshot from 2019 to 2024
Covers 25 provinces in China, aligning with major pig-producing regions
Includes analysis of lineage proportions, amino acid mutations, and identity trends over time
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
The dataset is small at 13.6 KB, indicating limited scope
