Description
Urinary metabolite concentrations for benzene, xylene, and 1,3-butadiene measured in 60 golden retrievers, including 30 with multicentric lymphoma and 30 matched controls. The dataset, authored by Ashleigh N. Tindle and last updated in April 2026, includes measurements from two time points: at diagnosis and one year prior. It also contains in vitro genotoxicity assay results for bioactivated benzene and xylene on canine peripheral blood mononuclear cells.
Use Cases
Assess associations between canine lymphoma and VOC exposure based on urinary metabolite concentrations.
Model reverse dosimetry to estimate in vivo blood concentrations from urinary metabolite data.
Investigate the impact of secondhand smoke exposure using the cotinine biomarker mentioned in the description.
Establish genotoxicity thresholds for benzene and xylene in canine cells based on the in vitro assay results.
Strengths
Includes matched case-control design with 30 cases and 30 controls.
Contains longitudinal data from two time points per dog.
Provides in vitro genotoxicity assay results to support exposure risk assessment.
Released under a CC-BY-4.0 license for open reuse.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The dataset is very small at 19.9 KB, indicating limited scope.
