Description
A bioinformatics study by Xuemeng Liu, last updated April 2026, identifies shared genetic factors between polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The dataset contains results from analyzing 239 common differentially expressed genes (DEGs) from GEO microarray datasets GSE34526 and GSE25724. It includes nine identified hub genes, predicted transcription factors, miRNAs, and 40 potential therapeutic drugs.
Use Cases
Identifying shared immune-inflammatory pathways between PCOS and T2DM based on the 239 common DEGs.
Predicting potential therapeutic drugs based on the 40 drug candidates targeting hub genes like CCR5, ITGB2, and ITGAM.
Analyzing protein-protein interaction networks based on the nine identified hub genes (e.g., ITGAM, ITGB2, SPI1).
Validating gene expression findings via RT-qPCR results for hub genes mentioned in the description.
Strengths
Identifies 239 common differentially expressed genes (140 upregulated, 99 downregulated) from two GEO datasets.
Lists nine specific hub genes (ITGAM, ITGB2, SPI1, C1QB, CCR5, C3AR1, LY86, AIF1, IRF8) validated by RT-qPCR.
Predicts 40 potential therapeutic drugs, 19 transcription factors, and 170 miRNAs interacting with hub genes.

Limitations
Row count and column-level documentation are absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The 10.5 KB file size suggests a limited, summary-level dataset rather than raw expression data.
Freshness should be verified as the last update date is in the future (2026-04-16).
