Description
349,033 incident cases of myocarditis were recorded globally in 2021 for individuals aged 15-39. The data, from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021, includes incidence, mortality, and DALYs stratified by region, country, age, sex, and sociodemographic index. Le Zhao published this analysis on figshare in March 2026.
Use Cases
Forecasting future disease burden through 2050 based on historical trends from 1990-2021.
Analyzing the impact of sociodemographic index (SDI) on myocarditis incidence and mortality rates.
Comparing myocarditis burden across age groups (e.g., 30-34 vs. 35-39) and sexes.
Evaluating regional disparities in myocarditis-related deaths, with a focus on high-burden areas like East Asia.
Strengths
Includes 95% uncertainty intervals for key metrics like the 349,033.33 incident cases in 2021.
Provides data stratified by five key dimensions: region, country, age, sex, and sociodemographic index (SDI).
Covers a 32-year time series from 1990 to 2021, enabling longitudinal trend analysis.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The dataset is small at 85.5 KB, indicating a limited scope, likely aggregated summary statistics.
