Description
A 2021 pilot study in Stockton, California, USA, collected 69 urine samples from 18 children aged 5-13. The data, authored by Susan Hurley, compares metabolite levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and volatile organic compounds to national reference data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.
Use Cases
Assess disparities in naphthalene exposure based on demographic factors mentioned in the description
Compare urinary metabolite levels for specific PAHs and VOCs to national reference data
Identify potential exposure sources for elevated naphthalene levels in a specific community
Analyze temporal trends in children's chemical exposure by comparing to older NHANES data
Strengths
Includes a direct comparison to a national reference dataset (NHANES)
