Kwara State, Nigeria, is the focus of this survey dataset examining parental attitudes toward mother tongue use and its relationship with undergraduate language competence and readiness for internationalized higher education. The data was collected from a sample of 335 students at Kwara State University and the University of Ilorin using researcher-developed instruments, with reliability coefficients of 0.72 and 0.74.
