Description
An F1 population of 200 grapevine individuals from a cross between Raboso Veronese and Sultanina cultivars was phenotyped for berry color, weight, 28 texture traits, and seed parameters. The population was genotyped using Single Primer Enrichment Technology (SPET), yielding high-density pseudo-testcross genetic maps with over 1,200 SNP markers each. Quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis revealed major-effect QTLs on chromosome 18 and several minor-effect QTLs related to berry mechanical properties and seed development.
Use Cases
Mapping quantitative trait loci (QTL) for berry texture traits based on 28 measured parameters
Investigating the genetic link between seed development deficiency and berry softening during ripening
Conducting in silico analysis of candidate genes within identified QTL regions for functional studies
Studying the polygenic nature of berry mechanical properties using combined minor-effect QTLs
Strengths
High-density genetic maps with over 1,200 SNP markers for each parent
QTLs with high LOD scores up to 45 and explained phenotypic variation up to 65.49%
Joint phenotyping of 28 berry texture traits and 11 seed size/morphology parameters on 200 individuals
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
The dataset is small in size (68.9 KB), indicating limited scope
