Description
Administrative fitness records for approximately 130,000 Chinese university students from 2019 to 2023, combined with a 2023 survey of 1,200 undergraduates. The dataset was created by Yong Wang and shared on figshare under a CC-BY-4.0 license. It supports analysis of multilevel predictors like institutional factors, family support, and lifestyle risks on objectively measured physical fitness.
Use Cases
Modeling pathways between social-ecological factors and fitness based on structural equation modeling results
Analyzing gender disparities in physical fitness scores among university students
Investigating the mediating role of physical activity between contextual factors and fitness outcomes
Examining the negative impact of lifestyle risks like screen time and sleep irregularity on fitness
Strengths
Approximately 130,000 administrative fitness records provide a substantial sample size
Combines longitudinal administrative data (2019-2023) with a detailed cross-sectional survey (n=1,200)
Includes objectively measured fitness scores and quantified path coefficients (e.g., β=0.38 for PA)
Limitations
Row count for the primary dataset is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
The cross-sectional design of the survey component limits causal inference
