Description
349,033 incident cases of myocarditis were recorded globally in 2021 for individuals aged 15-39 years. The dataset contains global, regional, and national estimates for incidence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) from 1990 to 2021, stratified by age, sex, and sociodemographic index.
Use Cases
Analyze temporal trends in incidence and mortality rates by region and country using the 1990-2021 time series.
Model the relationship between sociodemographic index (SDI) and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) across different age groups.
Compare sex-specific burden metrics, such as incidence and mortality, to identify epidemiological disparities.
Forecast future disease burden through 2050 using historical trends in incident cases and DALYs.
Strengths
Provides 32 years of temporal coverage from 1990 to 2021 for longitudinal analysis.
Includes estimates with 95% uncertainty intervals for key metrics like incident cases and deaths.
Stratifies data by multiple dimensions: region, country, age, sex, and sociodemographic index (SDI).
Limitations
Dataset size is 554.9 KB, indicating a limited scope of aggregated summary statistics rather than individual-level records.
Rows and specific column structure are unknown, limiting detailed feature analysis.
Data are modeled estimates from the GBD study, not raw clinical observations.
Provenance
Source
