A 2026 study by Mélanie Di Mario investigated potential migrations of substances from paper and board food contact materials. The analysis used liquid and gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry or flame ionization detection on 20 straws and 58 takeaway articles. Fourteen target substances were found in takeaway articles and six in straws, with at least one substance detected in 88% of samples.
