Description
Labour Relations in Taiwan: 1500, 1650, 1800 is an abridged dataset from the Global Collaboratory on the History of Labour Relations 1500-2000. The dataset, created by Christine Moll-Murata and updated by Daan Jansen (IISH) in October 2020, includes only records containing labour relations, with data cleaning, separation of male and female individuals, and removal of duplicate records. The aggregated number of people in the updated datasets should equal the total population.
Use Cases
Analyzing the composition of historical labour relations based on the separation of male and female individuals.
Studying long-term trends in Taiwanese labour structures across the years 1500, 1650, and 1800.
Conducting demographic research on historical populations using cleaned and deduplicated records.
Strengths
Data underwent cleaning and removal of duplicate records in the October 2020 update.
Records are separated by male and female individuals, allowing for gender-based analysis.
The dataset is part of a larger, structured international historical research project (Global Collaboratory).
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The dataset is an abridged version that excludes all population data, focusing only on labour relations.
