The Mid-Atlantic Bight and other seas contain temperature and other oceanographic data collected from 01 August 1985 to 26 May 1990. Data were gathered using visual observations, bottle casts, and other instruments from the GYRE and other platforms. The Battelle Marine Research Laboratory in New England collected this data with support from the Ocean Dumping project.
Use Cases
- Analyze historical ocean temperature trends based on time-series observations
- Model the impact of ocean dumping activities based on collected environmental data
- Validate satellite-derived sea surface temperature data based on in-situ measurements
- Study seasonal and interannual variability in the Mid-Atlantic Bight based on multi-year records
Strengths
- Data covers a multi-year period from 1985 to 1990
- Observations were collected using multiple instruments including bottle casts
Limitations
- Last updated 1990-05-26 00:00:00; freshness should be verified
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
