Temperature profile and pressure data were collected using CTD casts from NOAA Ship DISCOVERER in the TOGA area of the Pacific Ocean from 06 September 1992 to 08 December 1992. Data were collected by the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) with support from the Equatorial Pacific Ocean Climate Studies (EPOCS) project.
Use Cases
- Model ocean temperature stratification based on profile data
- Analyze pressure-depth relationships in the equatorial Pacific
- Study seasonal oceanographic changes in the TOGA area during 1992
- Validate climate models using historical CTD measurements
Strengths
- Data collected by NOAA's Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL)
- Specific temporal coverage from September to December 1992
- Focus on the TOGA area of the Pacific Ocean
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
- Last updated 1992-12-08 00:00:00; freshness should be verified
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
