Temperature profile and pressure data were collected using CTD casts from NOAA Ship DISCOVERER in the TOGA area of the Pacific Ocean from 11 May 1994 to 19 November 1994. Data were collected by the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) with support from the Equatorial Pacific Ocean Climate Studies (EPOCS) project. The dataset is archived under NCEI Accession 9600136.
Use Cases
- Modeling ocean temperature stratification based on profile data
- Analyzing pressure variations in the equatorial Pacific Ocean
- Studying ocean climate dynamics for the EPOCS project
- Calibrating oceanographic models with in-situ CTD measurements
Strengths
- Data collected by NOAA's Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL)
- Specific temporal coverage from 11 May 1994 to 19 November 1994
- Focus on the TOGA area, a key region for ocean climate studies
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
- Last updated 1994-12-31 00:00:00; freshness should be verified
