Temperature profile and water depth data collected using BT and XBT casts in the Northeast and Southwest Atlantic Ocean. The data were gathered from 21 July 1981 to 02 December 1985 by Office De La Recherche Scientifique Et Technique Outre Mer in Brest, France. The collection was part of the Seasonal Response of the Equatorial Atlantic Experiment / Français Ocean Et Climat Dans L'Atlantique Equatorial (SEQUAL/FOCAL) project.
Use Cases
- Modeling ocean thermal layers based on temperature profile data.
- Analyzing seasonal or interannual temperature changes in the Atlantic Ocean.
- Studying the relationship between water depth and temperature gradients.
- Validating oceanographic models using historical in-situ measurements.
Strengths
- Data collection spans over four years, from July 1981 to December 1985.
- Data originates from a specific scientific project (SEQUAL/FOCAL) with a known research institution.
- Geographic coverage includes both Northeast and Southwest Atlantic Ocean regions.
Limitations
- Last updated 1985-12-02 00:00:00; freshness should be verified.
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
