Temperature profile and water depth data were collected from the Northeast and Southeast Atlantic Ocean using BT and XBT casts. The data were gathered by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution from October 1984 to April 1985. This collection supports the Seasonal Response of the Equatorial Atlantic Experiment / Français Ocean Et Climat Dans L'Atlantique Equatorial (SEQUAL/FOCAL) project.
Use Cases
- Model ocean thermal structure based on temperature profiles
- Analyze seasonal variability in the equatorial Atlantic based on time-series data
- Validate oceanographic models using in-situ BT and XBT measurements
- Study water column properties based on depth and temperature data
Strengths
- Data collected by a reputable institution (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
- Specific temporal coverage from 17 October 1984 to 20 April 1985
- Focus on a defined geographic region (Northeast/Southeast Atlantic Ocean)
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
- Last updated 1985-04-20 00:00:00; freshness should be verified
