Temperature profile data collected using moored CTD instruments in the Chukchi Sea from 24 September 1993 to 03 September 1996. The data were collected and submitted by the University of Alaska / Institute of Marine Sciences with support from the Circulation of the N. Central Chukchi Sea Shelf project.
Use Cases
- Analyze seasonal and interannual temperature variability in the Chukchi Sea based on the time-series profile data.
- Model ocean circulation and heat transport in the Arctic shelf based on temperature measurements.
- Validate satellite-derived sea surface temperature data for the Arctic region based on in-situ CTD profiles.
- Study the impact of climate change on Arctic marine ecosystems based on long-term temperature records.
Strengths
- Data covers a multi-year period from September 1993 to September 1996.
- Data originates from a specific scientific project (Circulation of the N. Central Chukchi Sea Shelf) and institution (University of Alaska / Institute of Marine Sciences).
Limitations
- Last updated 1996-09-03 00:00:00; freshness should be verified.
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
