Description
70 years of oceanographic profiles from the Arctic, North Atlantic, and North Pacific Oceans, collected between 1928 and 1998. Data include temperature, salinity, alkalinity, and concentrations of ammonium, phosphate, silicate, nitrate, and nitrite. The Marine Environmental Data Service of Canada submitted the data, which were collected via CTD, MBT, and bottle casts from the SACKVILLE and other platforms.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean climate change based on 70-year temperature and salinity profiles.
Analyzing marine nutrient cycles based on concentration profiles of ammonium, phosphate, silicate, nitrate, and nitrite.
Studying Arctic and North Atlantic water mass properties based on alkalinity and salinity data.
Calibrating satellite-derived ocean data based on in-situ CTD and bottle cast measurements.
Strengths
Data spans a 70-year period from 1928 to 1998, enabling long-term trend analysis.
Profiles include multiple chemical variables: ammonium, phosphate, silicate, nitrate, and nitrite concentrations.
Covers a broad geographic area including the Arctic, North Atlantic, and North Pacific Oceans.
