Description
From February 2002 to September 2003, temperature, salinity, and other profile data were collected via CTD casts from the ATLANTIS, WECOMA, and NEW HORIZON research vessels in the Northeast Pacific Ocean. The data were collected by Oregon State University for the Global Ocean Ecosystems Dynamics (GLOBEC) project and are archived by NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean stratification and water column structure based on temperature and salinity profiles.
Analyzing seasonal and interannual variability in the Northeast Pacific based on the 2002-2003 time range.
Calibrating regional ocean circulation models based on in-situ CTD cast data.
Studying ecosystem dynamics for the GLOBEC project based on the collected physical oceanographic data.
Strengths
Data collected over a 19-month period from February 2002 to September 2003.
Profile data from three distinct research vessels: ATLANTIS, WECOMA, and NEW HORIZON.
Data originates from a specific, documented scientific project (GLOBEC) and institution (Oregon State University).
