Description
Discrete sample and profile data collected from the BARUNA JAYA I research vessel across nine Indonesian seas from 1993 -08-08 to 1993-09-09. These data include CHLOROFLUOROCARBON-11 (CFC-11), CHLOROFLUOROCARBON-12 (CFC-12), DISSOLVED OXYGEN, HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE, Potential temperature (theta), SALINITY and WATER TEMPERATURE. The data were collected by Arnold Gordon of Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory as part of the GLODAPv2_42BJ19930808 dataset.
Use Cases
Modeling historical ocean circulation based on salinity and temperature profiles.
Analyzing chlorofluorocarbon (CFC-11 and CFC-12) tracer distributions for water mass age studies.
Studying dissolved oxygen levels and potential temperature for biogeochemical research.
Calibrating or validating regional ocean models using hydrographic bottle and CTD data.
Strengths
Data covers nine distinct seas in the Indonesian archipelago, providing regional breadth.
Includes multiple key oceanographic variables: CFCs, dissolved oxygen, salinity, and temperature.
Collected during a defined research cruise (Arlindo '93) with a known principal investigator.
