Description
Banda Sea, Ceram Sea, Flores Sea, Makassar Strait, and Molucca Sea data collected from the BARUNA JAYA IV research vessel between November 21 and December 13, 1996. The dataset includes measurements of chlorofluorocarbons (CFC-11, CFC-12), dissolved oxygen, hydrostatic pressure, potential temperature, salinity, and water temperature. It was collected by researchers from Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory as part of the GLODAPv2_42BR19961121 dataset, associated with the 'Arlindo '96' cruise.
Use Cases
Analyzing water mass formation and circulation patterns based on salinity and potential temperature profiles.
Studying historical ocean tracer concentrations based on CFC-11 and CFC-12 measurements.
Investigating ocean ventilation and biogeochemical processes based on dissolved oxygen data.
Calibrating or validating regional ocean models based on the hydrographic profile data.
Strengths
Data includes multiple key oceanographic variables: CFCs, dissolved oxygen, salinity, and temperature.
Collected during a defined research cruise ('Arlindo '96') over a 23-day period in 1996.
Associated with the authoritative GLODAPv2 (Global Ocean Data Analysis Project) compilation.
