Description
From September 13 to October 14, 1995, discrete sample and profile data were collected from the FRANKLIN research vessel in the Indian Ocean during cruise FA9508 and WOCE_IR06_1995. These data include dissolved oxygen, hydrostatic pressure, nitrate, potential temperature, salinity, water temperature, phosphate, and silicate, collected using CTD and bottle instruments. The data were collected by Susan Wijffels of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization as part of the World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE).
Use Cases
Modeling ocean circulation patterns based on temperature and salinity profiles.
Analyzing nutrient distributions (nitrate, phosphate, silicate) for biogeochemical studies.
Calibrating satellite-derived sea surface salinity measurements using in-situ bottle data.
Studying dissolved oxygen levels to assess ocean health and ventilation.
Strengths
Data collected as part of the major World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) program.
Includes multiple key oceanographic variables: temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, and nutrients.
Specific temporal coverage from 1995-09-13 to 1995-10-14.
