Description
Discrete sample and profile data collected from the LAURENCE M. GOULD research vessel in the Gulf of Guinea, South Atlantic Ocean, and Southern Oceans from March 23, 2006, to November 2, 2010. These data include DELTA CARBON-13, DELTA CARBON-14, SALINITY, and WATER TEMPERATURE, collected using CTD and bottle instruments. The data were collected by researchers from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, NOAA, and the University of Washington as part of the Drake Passage Radiocarbon Data set.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean carbon uptake and storage based on DELTA CARBON-13 and DELTA CARBON-14 measurements.
Analyzing water mass properties and circulation based on concurrent SALINITY and WATER TEMPERATURE profiles.
Calibrating and validating global ocean biogeochemical models using high-quality Southern Ocean isotope data.
Studying temporal changes in Southern Ocean chemistry over the 2006-2010 period.
Strengths
Data spans over four years from 2006-03-23 to 2010-11-02, providing a multi-year time series.
Includes multiple key oceanographic variables: DELTA CARBON-13, DELTA CARBON-14, SALINITY, and WATER TEMPERATURE.
Collected by established institutions including Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and NOAA.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Last updated 2010-11-02; freshness should be verified for contemporary applications.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale ML tasks.
