Description
Discrete sample and profile data collected from the Hakuho Maru research vessel in the North and South Pacific Ocean from August 13 to September 1, 1991. The dataset includes measurements of dissolved oxygen, hydrostatic pressure, potential temperature, salinity, and water temperature, gathered using CTD and bottle instruments during cruise KH91-5_1. Data were collected by researchers from JAMSTEC and the University of Tokyo as part of the PACIFICA project for synthesizing Pacific Ocean interior carbon data.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean stratification and water mass properties based on temperature and salinity profiles.
Analyzing dissolved oxygen distribution for biogeochemical studies in the Pacific Ocean.
Calibrating or validating regional ocean circulation models using hydrostatic pressure and temperature data.
Studying temporal changes in Pacific Ocean interior carbon parameters as part of the PACIFICA synthesis project.
Strengths
Data covers a specific transect in both the North and South Pacific Ocean over a 20-day period in 1991.
Includes multiple core oceanographic variables: dissolved oxygen, hydrostatic pressure, potential temperature, salinity, and water temperature.
Data is associated with a recognized international collaborative project (PACIFICA) and specific research cruises.
