Description
Chemical, physical, and profile data collected from the R/V Knorr in the North Atlantic Ocean during a cruise from April 24 to May 18, 1986. The dataset includes measurements of chlorofluorocarbon-11, dissolved oxygen, nitrate, phosphate, silicate, salinity, and water temperature. These data were collected by W. Jenkins and W. Smethie using CTD and bottle instruments as part of the GLODAPv2_316N19860424 data set.
Use Cases
Analyzing chlorofluorocarbon (CFC-11) tracer distributions for ocean circulation studies.
Modeling nutrient cycles based on nitrate, phosphate, and silicate measurements.
Calibrating or validating oceanographic models using CTD-derived salinity and temperature profiles.
Studying dissolved oxygen levels and their relation to biological processes.
Strengths
Data includes multiple chemical and physical variables (CFC-11, oxygen, nutrients, salinity, temperature) for integrated analysis.
Collection period is precisely defined from 1986-04-24 to 1986 05-18.
Data is associated with the authoritative GLODAPv2 compilation project.
