Description
From June 26 to July 4, 1991, this dataset contains chemical and physical oceanographic measurements collected from the R/V Ocean Researcher I in the Philippine Sea. The data includes parameters such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFC-11, CFC-12), dissolved oxygen, nutrients (nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, silicate), salinity, and water temperature. It was collected by researchers from National Taiwan University as part of the international PACIFICA project.
Use Cases
Modeling historical ocean carbon uptake based on CFC-11 and CFC-12 measurements.
Analyzing water mass structure and circulation in the Philippine Sea based on salinity and temperature profiles.
Studying nutrient distributions and ocean productivity based on nitrate, phosphate, and silicate data.
Calibrating or validating ocean biogeochemical models using this multi-parameter observational dataset.
Strengths
Includes multiple key oceanographic parameters (CFCs, nutrients, oxygen, temperature, salinity) for integrated analysis.
Data has precise temporal (1991-06-26 to 1991-07 04) and spatial (Philippine Sea) coverage.
Collected as part of a defined international scientific project (PACIFICA), suggesting structured protocols.
