Description
Thailand dekadal NDVI indicators aggregated by sub-national administrative units, sourced from NASA MODIS collection 6.1. Created by the World Food Programme, the data tracks vegetation health through 10-day intervals, long-term averages, and anomalies.
Use Cases
Assessing crop stress by analyzing the viq anomaly percentage across different provinces
Tracking seasonal vegetation cycles using the 10-day vim time-series
Evaluating data reliability for specific regions using the n_pixels column
Strengths
Derived from NASA MODIS collection 6.1 Aqua and Terra satellite data
Includes historical baseline comparisons via the vim_lta field
Provides n_pixels to quantify the data density behind each aggregate
Limitations
Aggregated at administrative levels, masking local variations within units
Subject to satellite sensor interference from cloud cover in tropical climates
Provenance
Source
World Food Programme (WFP) and NASA MODIS
Collection Method
Satellite sensor data aggregation
Freshness
Updated as of March 2026.
Geography
Thailand
Administrative units are identified by WFP Pcodes; spatial visualization requires corresponding WFP shapefiles.
