One Tree Reef evolved from a karst platform emergent before 9600-9000 years B.P., with vertical organic accretion dominant during sea-level rise. By 4400 years B.P., the reef grew into the present wave regime, influencing its current asymmetrical triangular shape and symmetrical sediment pattern. The dataset, from Geoscience Australia Data, describes the reef's formation and present lagoonal sedimentation controlled by tidal and wave processes.
