A recent drilling program in southeast South Australia provides new insight into the late Cainozoic sequence. The data suggests at least 20 major high sea-level stands over the past 690,000 years, resulting in a 100 km seaward shoreline progradation between Naracoorte and Robe. The sequence is described by the Australian Ocean Data Network and includes sandy and fine-grained facies deposited under various marine and terrestrial conditions.
