An abstract analyzes the Cretaceous formation of the Lord Howe Rise continental ribbon to distinguish between self-organizing and mantle-driven plate tectonic models. The study integrates marine geophysical data, limited dredge samples, and sparse shallow drilling (<600 m below-seafloor) to examine the ribbon's extensional history and igneous rock composition. Research was presented at the 2016 American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting.
