A 2024 paper by Konstantinos V. Katsikopoulos from the University of Basel compares the performance of the take-the-best heuristic against benchmarks like naïve Bayes across 19 simulated environments. The research investigates how limited information search and noncompensatory processing can yield robust performance relative to more complex models. It specifically tests the heuristic with both dichotomized and undichotomized cues, using small training sets and human intuition.
