Description
Western Yukon rocks assigned to the Windy McKinley Terrane occur in Stevenson Ridge and Kluane map areas. Based on new mapping, these rocks have been divided into three fault-bound assemblages, including schists, ophiolitic rocks, and clastic rocks intruded by gabbro. The dataset is provided by the Government of Yukon and was last updated in April 2026.
Use Cases
Terrane correlation analysis based on described rock assemblages
Mineral potential assessment based on implications from terrane reassignments
Geological mapping validation using the fault-bound assemblage descriptions
Comparative geology studies referencing correlations with Yukon-Tanana, Chulitna, Aurora Peak, and Pingston terranes
Strengths
Dataset is provided by the authoritative Government of Yukon
Description details three distinct fault-bound rock assemblages with specific compositions
Includes references to Early Triassic gabbro intrusions and correlations with other terranes
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download
