Description
The dataset contains interdisciplinary measurements from the TRATLEQ1 cruise, focusing on upwelling in the tropical Atlantic. It is the first program to cover a complete equatorial section from east to west and surface to bottom, collecting physical, chemical, biogeochemical, and biological data. The cruise contributed to multiple international research projects including GEOMAR OCEANS, EU TRIATLAS, and BMBF SPACES.
Use Cases
Analyzing the relationship between physical forcing and biological production in tropical Atlantic upwelling zones.
Modeling chemical cycles and carbon export pathways across a full equatorial transect.
Studying plankton community structure in relation to ocean temperature and salinity gradients.
Investigating the current system's role in setting background conditions for biogeochemical processes.
Strengths
Provides the first measurement program covering a whole equatorial section from eastern to western boundary and surface to bottom.
Integrates interdisciplinary data covering physical, chemical, biogeochemical, and biological parameters.
Limitations
Specific column names, row counts, and dataset size are not provided by any source.
