Description
SCIOPS collected data on salmon otolith thermal marks and genetic stock identification in the Gulf of Alaska from 2001 to 2004. The dataset includes analyses from four research cruises (GP0108, GP0207, GP0401, MF0310) and examines factors affecting juvenile salmon distribution. Data collection involved CTD, ADCP, and stomach content analyses of trawled salmon.
Use Cases
Identify hatchery-origin salmon based on otolith thermal mark analysis mentioned in the description
Determine salmon stock distribution relative to oceanographic regimes using Genetic Stock Identification techniques described
Model juvenile salmon distribution based on biological and physical factors examined in the study
Analyze catch per unit effort in relation to oceanographic and prey factors for pink, chum, coho, and sockeye salmon as described
Strengths
Data collected from four specific research cruises: GP0108, GP0207, GP0401, MF0310
