Description
The Third UK Habitats Directive report from 2013 lists pressures and threats to habitats and species at country and offshore levels. Data were aggregated from a standard EC list, with pressures assessed for 2007-2013 and threats projected for 2013-2025, each categorized by high, medium, or low importance. The Joint Nature Conservation Committee compiled this data for the UK's integrated report to the European Commission.
Use Cases
Analyzing the relative importance of different pressures on protected habitats based on the high/medium/low categorization.
Tracking temporal trends in threats to species by comparing the 2007-2013 pressure period with the 2013-2025 threat projection.
Identifying specific pollution types affecting habitats based on recorded pollutant data like nitrogen or toxic organic chemicals.
Comparing environmental pressures and threats across different UK countries and offshore regions.
Strengths
Data is structured around a standardized European Commission list of pressures and threats, enabling cross-border comparison.
Includes a clear temporal distinction between reported pressures (2007-2013) and projected threats (2013-2025).
Pressures and threats are categorized by relative importance (high, medium, low) and, for pollution, by specific pollutant type.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Last updated 2026-04-14 09:45:26.950634; freshness should be verified as the underlying report is from 2013.
