A compilation of till geochemistry data for the Finlayson Lake (105G), Glenlyon (105L), and east Carmacks (115I) map areas in southern Yukon. Sampling was conducted during the 2001 and 2002 field seasons under the Yukon Targeted Geoscience Initiative by the Yukon Geological Survey and Geological Survey of Canada. Geochemical analyses were performed on clay and silt fractions using ICP-MS with acid digestion, and beryllium analyses were conducted following a lithium metaborate fusion.
Use Cases
- Identify regional geochemical anomalies for mineral exploration based on ICP-MS analysis results.
- Map beryllium concentrations for gemstone (emerald) exploration based on specific fusion analysis.
- Correlate till composition with geological units based on spatially referenced sampling locations.
- Assess environmental background geochemistry based on clay and silt fraction elemental data.
Strengths
- Data originates from a joint government program involving the Yukon Geological Survey and Geological Survey of Canada.
- Analyses were conducted using standardized ICP-MS methods on specific particle size fractions (<0.002 mm and <0.063 mm).
- Includes specialized beryllium analysis following a lithium metaborate fusion, relevant for gemstone exploration.
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
- Data may reflect geographic bias inherent to the specific Yukon map areas sampled.
