Description
TIMED SEE Level 3A data files contain averaged solar irradiance spectra in 1 nm intervals, derived from EGS and XPS Level 2A products. The data includes 38 extracted emission lines and XPS diode irradiances, with corrections for atmospheric absorption, degradation, and flare removal applied. NASA produces these files, averaging measurements taken approximately 14-15 times per day.
Use Cases
Model solar influence on Earth's atmosphere based on 1 nm interval irradiance spectra.
Analyze solar variability using the 38 extracted emission lines.
Validate solar irradiance models based on the scaled solar model data shortward of 27 nm.
Study atmospheric absorption effects using the corrected, time-averaged measurements.
Strengths
Data includes 38 specific emission lines extracted from spectra.
Irradiance spectra are averaged in 1 nm intervals, providing spectral detail.
Corrections for atmospheric absorption, degradation, and flare removal are applied.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Freshness should be verified as the last update date is in the future (2026-03-13).
