Description
Aeromagnetic survey data collected over the Eagle Plains region in Yukon, Canada, between April and September 2009. The Government of Yukon published this map of the total magnetic field, derived from data recorded by cesium vapour magnetometers flown on two aircraft. The data were levelled, interpolated to a 200-meter grid, and the International Geomagnetic Reference Field was not removed.
Use Cases
Geological mapping based on magnetic anomalies to identify subsurface rock structures.
Mineral exploration targeting based on magnetic signatures associated with ore deposits.
Regional geophysical analysis based on high-resolution aeromagnetic data flown at 250-meter terrain clearance.
Strengths
Data collected with high-sensitivity cesium vapour magnetometers (0.005 nT).
Flight lines were computer-analysed and levelled to minimize intersection errors.
Survey flown on a pre-determined flight surface to ensure data consistency.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF) was not removed from the magnetic field values.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
