Description
2011-12 tree census data from the SAFE Project, containing 3,507 rows of measurements across 45 fields. The dataset includes measurements of DBH and tree height, estimates of fruiting, flowering, epiphyte and liana cover, and taxonomic identification. It was collected by Edgar C. Turner of the University of Cambridge as part of research on above-ground net primary productivity funded by the Sime Darby Foundation.
Use Cases
Modeling above-ground biomass and carbon storage based on DBH and tree height measurements.
Analyzing spatial distribution of tree species and functional types based on plot coordinates and taxonomic IDs.
Studying phenology and forest productivity using estimates of fruiting and flowering.
Investigating species composition and biodiversity across sampling blocks and plots.
Strengths
Contains 3,507 data rows with measurements for individual tree stems.
Includes 45 fields covering spatial, taxonomic, structural, and phenological attributes.
Provides taxonomic identification to family, genus, and species levels.
Limitations
Row count is unknown for the specific data table, which may limit suitability assessment.
Last update date is unknown; freshness unverified.
Data may reflect geographic and temporal bias inherent to the specific SAFE Project sampling.
