Description
Daily average fluxes for protons in five energy ranges (2-4, 4-6, 6-8, 8-16, 16-20 MeV) and alpha particles in three ranges (4-6, 6-9, 11-20 MeV/n), including Poisson uncertainties. The data originates from the Ulysses spacecraft's COSPIN Low Energy Telescope instrument and is provided by NASA. The dataset was last updated on March 13, 2026.
Use Cases
Analyze solar particle event intensity based on proton flux measurements
Study cosmic ray modulation based on daily helium particle fluxes
Model radiation hazards in space based on multi-energy particle data
Validate particle transport simulations based on observed flux uncertainties
Strengths
Data includes Poisson uncertainties for each flux measurement
Fluxes are provided for protons in five distinct energy ranges
Fluxes are provided for helium particles in three energy ranges per nucleon
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Provenance
Source
National Aeronautics and Space Administration
Collection Method
Data collected by the Ulysses spacecraft's COSPIN Low Energy Telescope instrument.
