Description
NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer collected raw underway biological, chemical, meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical data in the North Atlantic Ocean from 2021-05-16 to 2021-05-27. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) personnel submitted the data and cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log (SDAL) to the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI). The data were archived through the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository (NOAA R2R) automated process.
Use Cases
Analyze multi-parameter oceanographic time series based on the logged physical and chemical data.
Model biological and optical property correlations based on the underway sensor data.
Study meteorological and navigational conditions for a specific cruise track based on the logged time series.
Integrate supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log (SDAL) for contextual analysis.
Strengths
Data spans multiple domains: biological, chemical, meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical.
Includes supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log (SDAL).
Data collection period is precisely defined from 2021-05 16 to 2021-05-27.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
