Description
NOAA Ship Oscar Dyson collected raw underway biological, chemical, meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical data in the Gulf of Alaska from March 3 to March 16, 2021. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted these data and supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log. The data were archived through the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) automated process.
Use Cases
Modeling oceanographic conditions based on underway physical and chemical measurements
Analyzing biological activity patterns based on logged biological data
Correlating meteorological observations with oceanographic data for integrated environmental studies
Validating satellite or model data using in-situ navigational and optical measurements
Strengths
Data covers multiple domains (biological, chemical, meteorological, navigational, optical, physical) from a single cruise
Includes supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log
Collected over a specific 14-day period (2021-03-03 to 2021-03-16) in the Gulf of Alaska
