Description
North Pacific Ocean underway data collected aboard NOAA Ship Reuben Lasker from 2019-05-05 to 2019-06-07. The dataset contains raw biological, meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical time series data logged by the ship's Scientific Computer System (SCS). Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) personnel submitted the data and associated cruise-level metadata to the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) via the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) program.
Use Cases
Modeling oceanographic conditions based on underway physical data.
Analyzing biological activity patterns based on logged biological data.
Correlating meteorological observations with physical ocean data.
Studying ship-track navigation and its relation to sampled environmental variables.
Strengths
Data spans a continuous 34-day period from 2019-05 05 to 2019-06-07.
Includes multiple data streams: biological, meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical.
Cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log (SDAL) provides supplementary context.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
